REPORTAGE
The art of reportage photography has existed since the invention of the first cameras and became increasingly popular with the advent of the 35mm format Contax and Leica rangefinder cameras. Reportage photography can best be described as 'photojournalism' or 'documentary photography' It's about capturing real life and life's events. Reportage began in this country with 'Weekly Illustrated' magazine with illustrated articles about every day life, initially in and around the streets of London.
In the following galleries we hope to continue that trend of depicting every day events, places and people in the world in which we live. Similar to travel photography although here you will find not so much the landscape or the architecture of the places, but rather what happens in those places and those who live there. Some call it 'street life' but does it really need a name? It's just life, and what happens around us.
